Hiho
I have a problem:
My Husband and me ( =VEGA=Gonzo, =VEGA=Notme ) can't join the DF-GR-Server since 9 month i think. Yesterday i looked at the RC-Ban List and i found an IP which is very similar to our.
Now my question:
can you remove this IP:85.176.0.0-85.182.127.255 from the list?

Hi,
I can see
Quote:
BLOC: 2009/12/30 02:31:44 [85.176.***.***]IP Blocked. Reason - In Remote Ban List
BLOC: 2009/12/30 01:52:46 [85.176.***.***]IP Blocked. Reason - In Remote Ban List
From your post on Forums I have confirmed that this is you.
I have temporarily granted this IP access until the end of January 2010, but somebody more powerful will have to decide about what changes might be required to the RBL for the longer term.
(Vega Li and $eraph seem to be ok.)
Cheers,

$eraph is me Wabbs, thx for the help for my teammates!
One question: The RBL banlist sort of filters out spam attack from servers, is that correct? If that is the case the problem should be completely resolved by now, right? (Gonzo had an issue like that ages ago)

Hi $eraph/Mustang,
I think there are many reasons why people end up being caught up in the Remote Ban List (RBL), and I'm not familiar with all of them.
Usually it's for the right reasons, such as individuals who have been investigated and found to be unquestionably guilty of violating RC's rules.
Occasionally it's because they are innocently caught in an IP range intended to keep known troublemakers out - I've been a repeat victim of this too.
Sometimes it's because ReconLog detects a Hack attempt, because a packet of data received matches the signature of a PC running one or more known hacks. When this happens, ReconLog automatically bans the individual in question. This has been a fairly inexact science in the past which was known to generate a few false positives under certain circumstances.
According to one of my RC colleagues, on 14th January 2007 Gonzo triggered a Hack attempt, but this was at a time when ReconLog was generating a higher than average number of erroneous reports.
Because there is significant doubt about the validity of this auto-ban, my colleague has removed the auto-ban against Gonzo with immediate effect.
Speaking on behalf of RC, I would like to apologise to all VEGA clan members for any inconvenience that this has caused. In the war against cheats and hackers, there are always innocent victims, but we do our best to keep this to a minimum.
Hopefully this matter is now resolved to everybody's satisfaction. If it happens again, please don't leave it quite so long before telling us!
Hey Wabbit. Thx for quick help. Gonzo and his wife dont like gaming modes with much spawns - so it didnt matter for a long time.
Atm not many servers running Ghost Recon are left, so they have to take what they can get.
Considering any suspects, i can say, that we play GR from the early beginning (guess it was 2001 or 2002 when we entered ClanBase)
and i would guarantee that he's "clean" --> whatever this might mean to you - i know... ^^
The Ban by RBL worked on FIRE GB's Server too , so we did involve Seba to clean this mess up.
As far as i know, he found that Gonzo was banned for being a spammer (or something like that), what, to be honest, really could be :
13 trojans found on his HD after scanning.
nevermind
ty again
Hi VEGA_LI and thx for coming by.
Just for clean things up, Gonzo’s ip wars (RBL) but it wars back in 2007, i see it still is, but it was not the case here.
Gonzo’s IP where cot in 0$tKr3tz3r
( http://www.replaycommittee.com/modules.php?name=Encyclopedia&op=content&tid=22 ) ip range, a player there is banned also on remote banlist, and that wars maybe why he also wars banned on FIRE GB's Server, I think they are running remote banlist also over there.
We have remove gonzo’s ip range in the remote banlist, so that shout be no problems now.
